Does this mean that stainless steel bearing will not rust?

Many people think that stainless steel high-temperature bearings will not rust. In fact, it is not.

This concept is a one-sided view of the product. at  some conditions, stainless steel bearings will also rust .

Stainless steel bearings have the ability of anti-oxidation and corrosion resistance in some environments containing acid, alkali and salt. However, their ability of anti-corrosion and oxidation will change due to the chemical composition, environmental medium and service conditions of stainless steel materials.

For example, if the 304 bearing is used in a clean and dry environment, it is not likely to rust. If it is used in a salt spray environment, it is easy to rust.

Is there any way to prevent stainless steel high temperature bearing from rusting? In fact, it is only necessary to avoid the occurrence of corrosion conditions and incentives, which can well alleviate rust and prolong service life. Here are several prevention methods:

1. The surface shall be clean. The outer surface of the bearing shall be cleaned. The commonly used cleaning methods include mechanical cleaning, solvent cleaning and chemical treatment cleaning. After cleaning and drying, it shall be assembled immediately.

2. Apply antirust oil on the bearing surface and put the bearing into antirust grease, so that a layer of antirust oil can be attached to the bearing surface. The thickness of oil film can be determined according to the viscosity and temperature of the antirust oil used.
